Biography
A 20+ year workplace health pioneer building one of the world’s most respected employee well-being strategies — at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Dr. Rich Safeer created and leads the Healthy at Hopkins employee health and well-being strategy at Johns Hopkins Medicine — one of the world’s leading academic medical systems. He holds faculty appointments at both the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
He completed his B.S. in Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University (under T. Colin Campbell, author of The China Study) and graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine, completing his residency at Franklin Square Hospital Center in Baltimore. Prior to Hopkins, he served as Medical Director of Preventive Medicine at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.
Dr. Safeer is the author of A Cure for the Common Company: A Well-Being Prescription for a Happier, Healthier, and More Resilient Workforce (Wiley, 2023) and has published approximately 50 peer-reviewed papers. His work has been recognized by the CDC, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Governor of Maryland.
