Where high-performance coaching meets institutional resilience training — bringing HeartMath into law enforcement, by training more than 60.000 dutch police officers

Roel Leduc is Coordinator and Trainer of Mental Resilience at the Dutch Police Academy, Politieacademie, and a key member of the Dutch Police Mentale Kracht programme. Since 1999, his work has focused on the development of mental resilience training for police professionals, connecting law enforcement education with applied HeartMath practices, physiological self regulation and high pressure performance.

He was responsible for coordinating and implementing the Mental Resilience project, through which more than 60,000 Dutch police officers were trained in mental resilience and HeartMath. This represents one of the most significant institutional applications of HeartMath in Europe.

Roel’s role is educational, institutional and highly specialized. He trains the professionals who serve in demanding police environments, helping them develop practical skills for stress regulation, coherence, recovery and performance under pressure.

His work bridges high performance coaching and resilience training in demanding professional contexts. He delivers individual stress reduction coaching through the seven session HeartMath programme, as well as group trainings for law enforcement, healthcare, business and professional sport.

Roel uses HRV biofeedback through an infrared ear sensor, allowing participants to see the physiological impact of coherence techniques in real time. This makes the training practical, measurable and directly connected to the realities of high pressure professional environments.

Alongside his work in police training and HeartMath, Roel is also pursuing a Bachelor in Health at Fontys Venlo University of Applied Sciences.

At the European HeartMath Symposium 3.0, Roel will share what more than 25 years of training one of Europe’s most demanding professional populations has taught him about resilience, coherence and what actually works in the field.
